Know your water
Every city publishes an annual Water Quality Report showing what’s in its water, including hardness. City water systems are required to meet federal safety standards, and we’ve linked each city’s report below so you can see the results for yourself.
Want to compare your water against stricter health guidelines? The EWG Tap Water Database lets you search by ZIP code. Keep in mind EWG uses its own guidelines, which are much stricter than legal limits, so most cities show results above them.
The best way to know?
Test your own tap. On city water, we can usually recommend the right system over the phone. On a well, we’ll test your water at home for free.
